"Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the words of God. But you don't listen because you don't belong to God" - Jesus (John 8:47 - New Living Translation).

It's not hard to spot Christians or people that truly belong to God. They are people that gladly and eagerly listen to the Bible (the words of God). They can't wait to read it. They love listening to it on tape or CD or radio or tv. They love to hear it preached or shared or quoted or referenced, no matter where they are. Scripture is authoritative in their life and once they hear what it says, they seek to obey it, not find fault with it, or argue with it, or find ways around it, or ignore it.

People that don't belong to God and who aren't truly Christians don't like to hear anything in the Bible. They don't gladly and eagerly listen to Scripture. They can go forever without reading or hearing it. They aren't interested in hearing it preached and don't like it when it is quoted or referenced by others. It's just a bunch of nonsense to them and has no real authority in their life. In fact, they argue with it and find fault with it and argue with it every chance they get. Or, they try to find ways around it or just plain ignore it.

Yes, as Jesus said, it's easy to spot who belongs to God and who doesn't. Their attitude towards God's word gives them away.

What's your attitude towards the Bible?
