"Why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? First, get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye." - Jesus (Luke 6:41, 42b - NLT).
It is so easy to condemn others for their mistakes. But we make mistakes too. And it's equally easy to point out other's faults. But we have faults too. In fact, the whole world is full of sinners and lawbreakers. So who are we to judge anyone?
Don't misunderstand. There is a time to speak the truth in love and stand for what is right. Jesus isn't teaching us to turn a blind eye to immorality or injustice. He's teaching us to remember and deal with our own sins before pointing out anyone elses. Because, if we do this, then when we try to help the other person face and overcome their faults, we will have the proper compassion and mercy needed to make our message be welcomed and help that person succeed in changing.
Today, before you point the finger at anyone, first look in the mirror and ask: What do I need to change about myself that might help this situation?
