"Throw out the mocker, and fighting goes, too. Quarrels and insults will disappear" - Solomon (Proverbs 22:10 - New Living Translation).
The Hebrew word translated "mocker" (above) is "lits." It means to scorn or deride or scoff. It pictures a person who puts others down or criticizes others frequently. This is the man or woman who always finds fault with others; who constantly points out the negative or bad and thrives on controversy. This is the person who arrogantly thinks he or she is better than others and makes a living out of mocking those in authority, lifting himself or herself up as superior.
A person like this is a thorn in the side of employers, teachers, managers, coaches, leaders and pastors. The solution, "throw out the mocker" Solomon says! Throw them off your team and out of your organization! If you don't, you'll have to deal with the constant quarrels and insults that swirl around such people. And, they'll continually cause you problems and hamper your success by fostering tension and disunity among those who are tying to get the job done. It's not worth it. Throw them out! Then, quarrels and insults will disappear.
