I recently read in Reader's Digest that the owner of a bank in Florida retired and sold his bank for about $69 million. He then split the money up and shared it with the 399 employees that worked for him, including a handful that had already retired. Some of them that had worked there the longest got bonuses of up to $100,000! The owner told them that he felt all the employees owned part of the bank since they were the ones to help make it so successful.

Now that's my kind of banker!

Such stories warm our hearts and make us realize that Jesus was right when he said it is more blessed to give than receive. Christians are called to be givers, not takers. We should be giving our tithes to our local church where we attend and sharing generously with others whenever possible, not always looking for others to give to us.

Jesus said, "Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full - pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back" - Luke 6:38 (New Living Translation).

Are you a giver or taker?
