"No prophet ever comes from Galilee." These words were uttered by religious leaders of Jesus' day who rejected him as Messiah. They did so on the grounds that Jesus was from Galilee but the Scriptures said Messiah would come from Bethlehem (See John 7:52).

They were wrong though, because they made a false assumption. They assumed that since Jesus grew up in Nazareth (which is in the territory of Galilee), that he wasn't born in Bethlehem. When, in fact, Jesus WAS born in Bethlehem, but then moved to Nazareth in Galilee where he was raised.

You'd think that such educated, intelligent religious leaders would have simply asked Jesus where he was born and quickly learned he was born in Bethlehem as the Scriptures said Messiah would be. But they didn't ask. Instead, they made a false assumption that Jesus was from Galilee, and it caused them to reject Jesus as Messiah and ultimately lose their souls.

One of the most foolish things we can do is fail to ask questions and get the facts about anything. It can cause us to make false assumptions and leap to false conclusions about God or people or situations.

Always check the facts. Ask questions before drawing conclusions in any situation, especially if there is a dispute. In Jesus' day, people disputed where he came from, but no one bothered to go to the source (Jesus) and ask HIM where he came from! Don't make the same mistake. If you are involved in a dispute or are in a situation where you are uncertain of what to believe, ask lots of questions. Search the scriptures YOURSELF for what GOD says about issues. When you hear that other people supposedly said or did something that concerns you, go to the source (that person) to get the right information. If it's not worth going, then drop it and don't believe what you're hearing until you hear it directly from the source. Never ASSUME anything. It could be disastrous!

Remember: False assumptions lead to false conclusions which lead to false thinking & false living! So, don't go there! Get the facts. Go to the source, always.
