Recently I read that 10 kids in a Little Rock, Arkansas daycare drank windshield wiper fluid thinking it was Kool-Aid. A daycare worker had mistakenly put it in the refrigerator. All the kids got sick and had to go to the hospital. Fortunately, they only drank a very small amount, so all survived.

This reminds me of America today. Many Americans think they’re drinking Kool-Aid every day living without God, but they’re really drinking windshield wiper fluid! They think they’re life is good, but in reality they are ignoring the living God and disobeying his commands and by so doing are poisoning themselves and others with toxic living.

God says not to have sex outside marriage, but Americans regularly do so. God says he hates divorce, but Americans regularly do it anyway. God says not to be greedy, but many Americans live lifestyles of greed as the recent economic crisis shows. God says homosexuality is wrong, but Americans embrace it. God says not to murder, but many Americans slay their unborn children. God says not to be drunk, but Americans get drunk all the time. God says not to lie, but many Americans lie and think nothing of it. God says to honor him, but our government & celebrities and politicians blaspheme him and drive him out. God says to weep over the sins that others commit, but many Americans applaud other’s sins instead. God says not to practice witchcraft or sorcery, but Americans embrace both (psychics are modern day sorcerers). God says to forgive, but many Americans hold grudges, file frivolous lawsuits and seek revenge. God says to discipline children, but many Americans simply won’t do it and allow their kids to disrespect authority and be completely out of control. God says to obey the law, but many Americans break the law with impunity. God says not to steal, but Americans steal every chance they get – from family, employers, each other and the government by letting taxpayers pay their bills and refusing to work when they could easily do so. God says not to lust, but almost everything in our culture is designed to promote and encourage lust. God says not to commit adultery, but online affairs and sexual trysts are rampant in our nation. God says not to love money, but that’s about all America loves, along with pleasure.

It’s toxic living and it’s killing us. Yet we think it’s great! We think it tastes good, like Kool-Aid. In reality, it’s poison that’s slowly killing our nation.

Pray for revival. Pray for America to turn back to God – before it’s too late.
