A 2008 TRU survey of teens and young adults reveals that 20% of teens & 33% of young adults (ages 20-26) have sent nude pictures or videos of themselves to others through their cell phones (it’s called “Sexting”). Nearly 40% of teens & 60% of young adults admit to sending sexually suggestive messages by their cell phones to others. And 48% of teens & 64% of young adults admit to having received sexually suggestive messages.
In other words, cell phones have become just another tool for distribution of pornography & lust. And many teens are doing it right under their parents’ noses!
Parents, you need to monitor your teens’ cell phones! It may be a pain to do and your teen won’t like it, but it MUST be done periodically. Your kids need to know that “Sexting” is morally wrong and that it could result in that image or video circulating all over the Internet & land in the hands of predators who might seek to harm them. Or, future employers or schools might see it and penalize your kid for trafficking in smut. Most of all, GOD sees it, and he doesn’t like it at all! It’s immoral and unholy and wrong.
Teach your kids (and young adults) to honor God with their cell phones. Set the example.
we find ourselves rebelling against God himself, since he gave them their authority. Further, his protection over us is removed and his displeasure falls on us in small and big ways.
I know. I’ve failed in this area many times in my life and have paid a heavy price in misery & loss as a result. On the other hand, when I’ve submitted to authority (so long as clear sin wasn’t involved), God richly blessed me and protected me from harm. Everyone else around me may have taken losses, but God protected & blessed me.
